Library Book Sale Haul

Our local library does random book sales where you can get paper bags for a dollar at hardcovers for two dollars. So I went ahead and browsed through the selection and I came home with eight books and my total was $10.

Book list

Ghosts and the Spirit World by Paul Roland - https://amzn.to/4nciZGI

(True cases of hauntings and visitations from the earliest records to the present day)

I generally watch a lot of true crime or murder mystery but lately I’ve been into like not so much the ghost hunting but like the paranormal stories, Skinwalker Ranch is really caught in my eye just the whole Appalachia backwards situation is very interesting to me so I picked this book up to see what it has to offer

Mr. Wilson‘s cabinet of wonder by Lawrence WESCHLER - https://amzn.to/4ezBYsO

(Prolonged ants, horned humans ,mice on toast , and other marvels of Jurassic technology)

Again, this book just kind of fit the supernatural vibe fantasy mood. I’ve been in this one. I honestly picked up mostly because of the cover. I know we’re not supposed to judge books by their cover, but I do sometimes this one gave me like an Indian in the cupboard reminder however it was like oddities, and as it is a short book, I figured why not it will fit my mood at some point I’m a very moody reader lately.

Marilyn Monroe by Barbara Leaming - https://amzn.to/4ddbwTc

I’ve always been very interested in Marilyn Monroe, her story as well as Princess Diana has always intrigued me because they were women who knew so much more than everyone else and I don’t think that either of them left this world willingly. We may never know in our lifetime what happened but someday someone will I’ve always been very interested in their story and what led up to honestly some of the most dramatic endings that are non-fiction And honestly, fairly recent.

The empathy diaries by Sherry Turkle - https://amzn.to/4nqY7vB

This one kind of just explains itself, but both myself, and my children tend to be very empathic or soft as people would say and it’s nice to relate to others and how they handle all of the overwhelming information that comes in when you are more in tuned with others than the average person. We will see if I gather any more information than I already have from this read.

Real ghost stories by Brad Steiger - https://amzn.to/4duU2D7

This is a more, scientific or philosophy based Approach and another attempt of mine to get myself off of my phone and reading more since ghost stories and paranormal seem to be something that I am interested in this season.

Paris to the moon by Adam Gopnik - https://amzn.to/4uFxLsm

I picked this one up not because we need another book based in Paris. We already know that I don’t. It was more because skimming through the storyline. It sounded like a very nice historical fiction but not really because it was 1995. That’s not really that long ago either but I am into mysteries at the moment and I think that this will play out finally without any gory descriptions in the details, we will hope.

Play like a man when like a lady by Gail Evans - https://amzn.to/4tkRhcc

I am a fan of act like a lady think like a man by Steve Harvey not that I think that we need to change how we do things to accommodate someone else’s bad behavior, but there are two sides to every story. We take what we like from the book and we leave it’s not important or doesn’t apply. I think that is going to be one of the approaches if not the approach that we take with this book, but it is a short reading again it was a dollar

Beneath a Scarlett sky by Mark Sullivan- https://amzn.to/4cWLwwC

This one was in the romance section. I couldn’t find any contemporary romances on my list that was there, but in World War II Italy, love was worth spying for was the hook that got me for this one based on a true story of forgotten heroes beneath the Scarlett sky is a triumph, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of his histories, darkest hours and yes as you can tell I’m a little bit of on an Italian kick lately. It’s nostalgic I’m sure but it sounds like it’s going to be a very good read in is a bit on the chunky side rolling in with the paperback physical copy being a 513 pages so not epically long but a little more than average.

Those are the eight books that I picked up at the library sale.
