Dead Silence
— Titanic Meets Ghost Ship… in Space ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I gave Dead Silence 3 out of 5 stars overall.
This was actually one of the books recommended to me by a viewer during one of my live YouTube reading sprints, and while science fiction usually isn’t my go-to reading genre, I do tend to enjoy sci-fi movies and darker space thrillers visually.
And honestly, once I fully understood what was happening, I did enjoy this book.
But getting there was a struggle for me personally.
At first, all I could really process was:
they’re in space, it’s her final voyage, and they discover an abandoned luxury cruise ship.
After that point, the story initially felt very scattered to me, and I honestly had to restart the beginning multiple times — probably three or four — before the setup finally clicked in my brain. That may just be how my brain processes heavily atmospheric sci-fi concepts, but the transition from exploration story into full-on space ghost ship horror took me a while to settle into.
Once the story finally locked in for me though, I really enjoyed the crew dynamics.
The different personalities, reactions to fear, stress, and isolation were some of the strongest parts of the novel in my opinion. The character representation felt believable, and watching the crew slowly unravel as the mystery deepened created some genuinely creepy moments.
The overall atmosphere becomes incredibly sinister, dark, claustrophobic, and honestly infuriating at times once the truth behind everything starts unfolding.
And surprisingly?
I ended up loving the ending much more than I expected to.
Overall, I’d describe this as:
Titanic + ghost ship horror… but set in space.
If you enjoy science fiction thrillers, creepy abandoned ship stories, psychological horror, or dark atmospheric mysteries, this is definitely worth checking out.
