Set in a deep-sea city where humans live underwater, Mira is a welder repairing a room for a party when everything goes sideways. During the job, she encounters her first Undying—August—aggressive, dangerous, and absolutely not happy to see her. Later, while going back out to repair damage and cover her tracks from a previous incident, Mira is kidnapped and taken to a cave… and somehow August falls first, which is honestly one of my favorite parts.

Communication is nearly impossible until Mira finds a small robot that helps translate between them, and watching their understanding—and affection—grow was so well done. Their connection deepens just as tensions rise between the humans and the fish people, both fighting for control and survival in the deep sea.

The worldbuilding is immersive, layered with history, unrevealed gods, and clear hierarchies in both the human and fish societies. The monster romance is spot on, the enemies-to-lovers buildup is delicious, and the ending delivers survival, conflict, war, and the promise of more to come.

This is book one in a series, and I’ll definitely be continuing. 🎧🌊
