⚠️ Review: TOXIC by Nicole Blanchard ⚠️

I did not like this story.

Now—before anyone comes for me—this book is well written. The author’s style, pacing, and descriptive ability are solid. From a technical standpoint, it’s done really well.

But the story itself was just too much for me.

The graphic descriptions of abuse were extremely hard to push through. I almost DNF’d around chapter 5, and honestly it didn’t start feeling tolerable until about chapter 16. After that, I still wasn’t fully sure what direction we were going.

I think I’ve learned that I’m just not into grungy murder romances.

If you have a stronger stomach for very dark romance and highly descriptive abuse scenes, you might appreciate this book more than I did. But for me, it crossed into too dark, too real-life heavy, and not in a way I personally enjoy reading.

I’ll stick with my dark fantasy—

not so much dark in real life.

And personally?

Girl… if that man lets me get hit ONE time, he is not my knight.

Failed. Next.

Absolutely not if I’m getting beat up twice.
