How to lose a guy before Christmas by AJ Pine

Snowstorms, Ghosting, and Tinsel Town Chaos ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This Christmas romance follows two people who originally met on a hookup app… only to unexpectedly run into each other again while scrambling to make it home to their families before Christmas Day.

And honestly?

Parts of this story were genuinely hilarious in the best way.

Because imagine ghosting someone and then a month later fate decides you now have to be trapped in a car together during a snowstorm dealing with all that awkwardness. Personally, I think I would’ve just canceled Christmas plans entirely and stayed home.

I really did enjoy the comedy and awkward tension throughout parts of the story, and the pacing kept things moving quickly. It was a cute, quick holiday romance with pretty mild spice — probably around a 1.5 out of 5.

But Lucy and Eric’s communication issues really dragged the romance down for me.

The constant emotional avoidance, running away from feelings, and refusal to just have honest conversations eventually gave me the ick a little. Honestly, the relationship dynamics felt a little too realistic to modern dating culture:
everyone needs therapy, nobody communicates properly, and yet everyone keeps trying to date anyway.

Then there’s Tinsel Town itself…

Which honestly sounds like a nightmare to live in full time.

The whole setting gave strong Groundhog Day energy with aggressively nonstop Christmas vibes, and somehow the residents seemed completely okay with it. Meanwhile, I was stressed out just reading about it.

And the tiger hotel?

That was certainly… a choice.

The setting itself almost felt surreal at times, but it definitely made the story memorable.

Overall, I liked the cozy holiday vibes, the awkward comedy, and the fast pacing, but the romance itself didn’t fully work for me because of the constant miscommunication and emotional immaturity between the characters.
