I was honestly a little hesitant to start this book at first because I worried it might feel too much like a side story connected only to Gilmore Girls. But after the first couple chapters, I already knew this was going to be something special.

Gilmore Girls is one of the few television shows that truly connects to my childhood memories, and like so many other people, rewatching it has become part of my fall traditions. The show just radiates cozy autumn comfort.

What surprised me most about this memoir was how much I enjoyed learning about Kelly Bishop herself — her life before, during, and after her role on the show. Hearing about her personal journey, struggles, successes, and experiences in entertainment made the memoir feel deeply personal and relatable.

Knowing more about the woman who brought Emily Gilmore to life honestly makes the show feel even more meaningful to me now.

Kelly Bishop comes across as incredibly motivated, grounded, hardworking, and surprisingly relatable throughout the memoir. And of course, we absolutely cannot ignore Dirty Dancing when talking about her incredible career.

I think The Third Gilmore Girl works beautifully because it’s not just about acting or television roles — it’s about a woman who genuinely loved life, loved performing, and embraced the opportunities, hardships, and changes that came with that journey.

I especially loved the way she ended the memoir, mirroring the way she described the ending of Gilmore Girls itself:
with a bit of a cliffhanger and the comforting belief that both Kelly Bishop and Emily Gilmore continue living happily, doing what they love most.

As a longtime Gilmore Girls fan, this memoir felt heartfelt, nostalgic, comforting, and inspiring all at once.
