This story follows a young faerie girl named Arie, who has spent her life living in the shadow of her grandmother — a legendary hero remembered for saving the fae people during a great crisis years before.
But now the terrarium itself is failing.
Mold is spreading. Clean water is disappearing. Crops are dying despite the sacrifices and desperate efforts of the fae communities trying to survive. With resources running out and hope fading, Arie becomes frustrated when her grandmother refuses to step in and help once again.
That frustration launches Arie into an epic journey across the terrarium where she encounters strange creatures, hidden dangers, forgotten truths, and secrets her grandmother has kept buried for years.
One of my favorite parts of this story was the world itself.
The terrarium setting feels imaginative, magical, and surprisingly emotional at times. Watching Arie travel through different areas and meet unique creatures made the world feel alive while also carrying this constant tension underneath everything because survival is never guaranteed.
The mystery surrounding her grandmother and the truth behind the past kept me invested the entire time. I constantly wanted to know:
What really happened before?
Why is her grandmother refusing to help?
Can Arie actually make a difference?
And most importantly… will any of them survive what’s happening to their world?
This felt like a beautiful middle grade fantasy adventure filled with heart, mystery, survival, and hope.
I absolutely loved it.
